Soups from Around the World

Liz Flynn, the owner of Super Souper Ed, is from England. Therefore, you will find lots of British soups on this site. However, Liz loves to experiment with international cuisines, so you will also find soups from around the world.

Each country has traditional soups that reflect the availability of ingredients, culinary traditions, and culture of the country. It is interesting to see the difference between soups from each of the countries. Sometimes, the addition of a few herbs and spices typical to a particular cuisine transforms an easy soup recipe.

European soups include s a wonderful Ukrainian beetroot soup called Borscht, a Greek lentil soup, and a German potato soup. There are also recipes for Cullen skink and cock-a-leekie from Scotland, minestrone soup from Italy, and gazpacho from Spain.

Our recipes for soups from around the world also include examples of African soups and Asian soups. These include Morrocan chickpea soup, Malaysian prawn laksa, and Thai coconut and vegetable soup.

For each of the soups from around the world, there is information about the soup’s origins and history. We also include a chart with information about preparing the soup and whether it meets special dietary requirements.

There is then a list of ingredients for each easy soup recipe, followed by clear instructions for making each soup. At the end of every recipe, there are additional tips.

We are constantly updating the site’s content, and one of our aims is to include as many examples of soups from around the world as possible.
